Release & Waiver of Liability Agreement

The Utah Ranch Sorting Association is not liable for the inherent risks associated with equine activities and the participants and/or equine professionals, as defined by that Code 78-27B-101. A. CONDITIONS: 1. Memberships are not transferable. 2. Violations of safety and association policies may result in revocation. 3. Please read and familiarize yourself and family members of the general rules and regulations. Strict adherence will be followed regarding safety and animal abuse. 4. RELEASE & LIABILITY: I am aware that various sports of cattle penning/sorting are hazardous sports involving the risk of injury and death. The risks include inherent risks and risks associated with contest activities. Arena ground conditions, fences, pens and other appurtenances, collisions with cattle, horse or horseman, failure to ride within one's ability or control, stock equipment or negligence of URSA or its agents are all examples of risks of cattle penning/sorting. I realize that injuries are common and ordinary occurrence of this sport. I agree, as partial consideration for the issuance of a URSA membership, to assume and accept all such risks of personal injury, death or property damage which arises from the sport of cattle penning/sorting and actions omissions or negligence of URSA or its riders. I, my heirs, guardians, legal representatives, or assigns agree to release from any legal liability and to never file a claim or suit against URSA, or any officer, member officeail representative, agent or employee for any injures, death caused by or resulting from this rodeo when I have accepted and assumed thereto or in any other way related to my participation in cattle penning/sorting regardless of whether or not URSA, its agents or employees were negligent or whether or not the injury resulted from an inherent risk of cattle penning/sorting. Furthermore, I agree not to bring legal action against URSA, its show officials, or its board members for disputes pertaining to the rules, the running of the show, arena or arena conditions, or calls made by judges or officials, or for any other act included in running of a team penning and/or team sorting. 5. INDEMNITY: I, the undersigned, have read and understand the terms of the above Agreement & Release which is an essential part of the agreement for URSA membership. I understand that I am releasing all claims that may arise against URSA its agents and employees regardless of their fault and that I am agreeing to indemnify and hold harmless URSA, its agents and employees for their negligence as well as for any claims arising from my participation in the sport of cattle penning/sorting. I am signing this document freely and of my own accord realizing it is binding upon myself, my heirs and assigns, and in the event that I am signing it on behalf of any minors that I have full authority to do so, realizing its binding affect on them as well as myself. Media Release: I grant permission to URSA to use my image (photographs and/or video) for use in URSA publications including written, email blasts, circulating brochures, newsletters, magazines, general publications, website and/or affiliates, or social media, etc. I hereby waive any right to inspect or approve the finished photographs or electronic matter that may be used in conjunction with them now or in the future, whether that use is known to me or unknown, and I waive any right to royalties or other compensation arising from or related to the use of the image.

Friday Classes

Masters Class - Riders aged 55 or older welcome to ride - Round Robin format - All Draw - 5 rides - Rider with the most cows sorted after 5 rides wins.
#9 HC – Regular sorting class where team rating total is no higher than a 9 (a #3 and #6 could ride together) since the team total = 9. Pick up to 5 Draw 1.
#2 Beginner HC – 5 cows instead of 10 makes this a true beginner class for those that are just getting into the sport. Any 0 or #1 rated rider is welcome to enter. All draw - up to 6 rides.
Open Mixed HC – Teams must consist of a Man and Woman, 2 women, Youth Rider (16 yo or younger), or rider aged 55 years old or older. Pick up to 5 Draw 1.
#3 HC - Perfect class for those that are getting into the sport that also want to pick their teammates. Team total cannot be higher than 3. - Pick up to 5 Draw 1.
#11 HC 3 Man 2 Gate - 3 riders team up to sort 10 cows in a pen that is 100'x50' with (2) - 12' gates on one side of the pen. Very fun and fast-paced. Pick up to 5 Draw 1.

Saturday Classes

Open HC – Pro Class - Riders rated #2 and above are welcome to enter - Pick up to 9x with 1 Draw.
#6 HC - Amateur Class - Regular sorting class where team rating total is no higher than a 6. Pick up to 5 Draw 1.
#7 Rookie HC (#1 Cap on the sorter) – Regular sorting class where team rating total is no higher than a 7. #1 Rated Riders do all of the sorting, and #2 Rated Riders and above hold the gate.
Youth Class - Riders aged 16 or younger are eligible. All Draw up to 6x.
#8 HC - Pro / Nov Class - Regular sorting class where team rating total is no higher than a 8 . Pick up to 5 Draw 1.
#4 HC - Novice Class - Regular sorting class where team rating total is no higher than a 4. Pick up to 5 Draw 1.

Ranch Sorting Terms

1	HC: Handicap – Handicapping gives a team with a lower team rating additional time to sort. They will be given 1 second for each number a team is under the max team rating. For example, in the #6HC class if the team total rating is a 4, they will be given 2 full seconds longer to sort than a team with a team total rating of 6.
2	RH: Ranch Hand – Whoever is sorting stays sorting in the herd and whoever is holding the gate stays holding the gate. (#7 Rookie Class)
